This is my first year on the pro tour. I play both singles and doubles, but am a doubles specialist, and want to play at grand slam level in doubles.

 

I won my first pro doubles title in Monastir, Tunisia, in June 2026, after only two months on tour. My current ATP doubles world ranking is 1,200. My goals are to finish this year inside the top 800, get to top 300 by the end of 2027, top 100 by the end of 2028, and then ultimately become one of the best doubles players in the world.

 

I am the first and only professional tennis player, ever, from Rotorua.

 

Professional tennis, unlike many other sports, operates as a ‘world tour’, meaning players must constantly travel to different cities and countries all over the world, to compete in tournaments a week at a time.

 

This comes with significant travel and accommodation costs. And unlike with professional team sports, there is no team to help with funding. Although there is prize money at each tournament, for the lower-tier events outside of the televised ATP tour, it often isn’t even enough to cover the flights there, let alone the accommodation, food, transport, and tennis-related costs.

 

I have been training at tennis almost every day for 18 years, since I was six years old. As a junior, I was New Zealand national champion in singles and doubles, Australian national champion in doubles, represented New Zealand in the Junior Davis Cup team (the ‘world cup’ of tennis), and even became the Auckland men’s doubles champion, while still a junior.

 

After spending four years as a student-athlete playing college tennis and earning a degree in the US, I am now playing pro tennis full-time.

 

Becoming a tennis star takes talent, pedigree, hard-work, discipline, and a lot of money. I have everything except the latter.
